Student and Parent Support Services

The Student and Parent Support Services meets individually with students and/or family members to assess concerns and challenges in regards to overall student wellness, through collaboration with guidance, administration, and teachers, by connecting students and families to appropriate community or school services. Below is a general guide to this department's main services, as well as specific programs and additional resources listed in links adjacent left to this page.


  • Facilitates the Student Assistance Team (SAT), Student Study Teams (SST), and 504 Accommodation Team meetings. These meetings are multi-disciplinary teams working to support struggling students with academic, health and/or social-emotional challenges.
  • Coordinates the Alternative to Suspension (ATS) program which reduces the number of days student is suspended when completed. Follow-up with students is provided to reduce recidivism.
  • Coordinates the 180 Degree Program/Life Communication classes. These classes target students who have potential to be successful at school, but have low credits and behavior issues.
  • Point person for the Student Support Fund which provides school supplies, low cost/free food and other minor basic necessities for students in need.
  • Supervises CBO staff and programs offered on campus (programs listed in links left to this page).
  • Represents M-A in various community meetings to improve school-community relations.
  • Problem solves with staff on how to serve challenged and under-resourced students.
